Many of the products feature L'Occitane's shea butter. The shea butter is produced by empowering 10,000 women in Burkina Faso, West Africa. L'Occitane provides business development training and an environmentally-friendly shea processing facility. Respecting both human and environment, no comprises are made with regard to protection of endangered species of community skills. L'Occitane does not patent the ways of using ingredients that are based on traditions. They do rely on effectiveness tests and work on combinations of ingredients to meet cosmetic needs.

L'Occitane's roots are in Provence. It is here that the company has reintroduced an iconic piece of heritage by planting 15,000 almond trees. The almond fruit is used throughout their scented Almond collection.
